Regular Living Task – Nox Dental Visit

January 27, 2024

On Thursday (January 25), we drove the truck to Bushnell, FL to the vet’s office to drop Nox off for her annual dental visit.

Nox was delighted to get in the truck and go for a ride. She was unhappy to discover the ride went to the vet’s office. As soon as we walked into the vet’s office, she started shivering. She recognized we had taken her back to the unhappy place. Fortunately, she relaxed after a bit.

The vet took X-Rays of her whole body. He was checking to see if there was any joint damage to her shoulder. He did spot some spurs on both her front knees. The vet said she is in great shape for a dog her age. Her skeletal system looked good, with no issues with her shoulders, hips and backbone.

Her teeth looked good this time and she didn’t have to have any teeth extracted.

Nox was happy to see us when we came to pick her up. She snuggled up to Bruce and then to me.

She did whine a bit on the way home. Once home, she wondered around whining and wagging her tail. For a bit, she had part of her tongue sticking out.

I got up to check on her twice during the night, as she was whining so pitifully it woke me up. Each time, I held her for a bit then put her down when she asked to be put down. She did seem to go back to sleep fairly quickly.

Friday, she whined a bit on and off. We stayed home with her to make sure she felt safe and to keep an eye on her. Her breathing was a bit raspy, after being intubated.

Nox seems to back to her normal self today.
