Bruce didn’t want to take the truck back to the dealership without determining what was leaking on the truck roof.
Since we had rain coming, Bruce was trying to figure out how he could cover the sunroof. I suggested using a heavy duty garbage bag and wood blocks to hold down the garage bag.
He agreed that was a good plan and we put it into action.
After the first heavy rainfall, we discovered the sunroof was not leaking, as the towel set to catch the water was soaked. After the second heavy rainfall, we determined the lights on top of the truck weren’t the culprit, as the towel was soaked. We then covered the rear light fixture and after a rainstorm, it was clearly the culprit, since the towel was dry.

Knowing where the leak was, Bruce decided to take a look to see how easy it would be to repair it.
He removed the light fixture by unscrewing the two screws holding the light fixture onto the side of the truck cab. He was appalled at the amount of dirt that had gotten into the area behind the light. He was surprised there wasn’t a rubber gasket that had failed, just foam on the back of the light fixture.
Bruce cleaned the dirt from the truck cab and the foam and put the light fixture back in place. He the ran a small bead of silicone around the top and sides of the light fixture.
After the next rain, we were happy to find the towels we put behind the rear seats headrests dry. Bruce had stopped the leak!
Glad that easy solution worked! Much better than a visit to the dealer or repair place.

I was happy it worked as well, as I didn’t want to spend another few hundred on repairs.
