In the evening, just before and during sunset, the birds start flying downriver.
We love sitting on the pier and watching the different birds flying past. Sometimes, we sit in the structure at the end of the pier and other times, we sit on benches along the pier.

Some of the pictures aren’t the best, but I thought you might still enjoy seeing them.

It is a fun way to spend part of the evening and by 6:00 PM, the flybys are over. I am not always able to identify the birds that fly past.
I also thought you might enjoy seeing the great blue heron that hangs out on the dock at various times.

We often hear the Florida barred owls hooting during this time in the evening. One starts and another answers. We haven’t been lucky enough to see one yet.
How blue are the herons? It’s hard to tell from the pictures.

If it was up to me, they would be called great grey herons. They are not very blue at all.

They sound like what I’d expect a pterodactyl to sound like, too!!
