A Small Visitor

December 21, 2023

On Tuesday, after we dropped the truck off for service, Bruce drove the loaner car home.

The day was so nice that I sat outside for a while with Nox.

I looked down and noticed this anole at the edge of the patio pad.

Nox was out with me and decided to investigate the anole.

What Is This?

The anole quickly ran away under the picnic table and onto my shoe.

It then decided to run up my pants leg as Nox got closer.

Getting Away from Nox

The anole stayed on my leg for nine minutes. I had enough time to text Bruce, ā€œI have a lizard on my leg.ā€ Bruce came out and took some pictures. He was very amused by the anole being so still on my leg.

Nox decided to investigate something else and wondered off. The anole decided it was safe and jumped from my leg to the picnic table leg. It slipped off the metal and landed by the picnic leg.

Notice the color changes it went through from being on the concrete to being on my pants leg. It got a lot lighter when on my jeans. Bruce said it even had some green on its back. I didn’t see the green on the back.

It tried to climb the metal legs of the picnic table a couple of times. It fell both times and then it scampered off into the grass.

I enjoyed the small visitor stopping to climb up my pants leg.

      1. It is a nice patio. I wish we had parked just a foot more away from the patio, we wouldn’t have had as much of slide hang over the patio, but the steps would’ve still reached it.

    1. Bruce was excited about it and thought it was funny. I sat as still as I could so I wouldn’t scare the anole. They are such cute lizards. We see them all the time here, darting through the underbrush and through leaves.
