Buffalo Rock State Park in Illinois and Dinner

July 20, 2023

After our stop at the US Army Corp of Engineers Rock Island Visitor Center, we headed on to the Buffalo Rock State Park.

It wasn’t crowded like the other two state parks. There was a birthday party going on in the pavilion, so I didn’t take any pictures of it.

We were tired, so we only took a short hike along the bluff overlooking the Illinois River. There was a viewing platform allowing for a great view of the river and the islands in the river.

We heard voices and we looked over the edge of the platform. We could see part of a boat sticking out from underneath the bluff.

We then walked back to the truck. We were tired and hungry.

We spent some time looking up places nearby that had allowed dogs. We settled on Jamie’s Outpost. They have a large covered space they allow dogs in. They are a biker bar and they claim to be family and dog friendly.

Nox was welcomed and offered water by the gentleman at the bar. We ordered our food at the window and took the pager.

We found seating and when the pager went off Bruce picked up the food. It was good bar food.

Nox was a good girl and lay down between us at our feet while we ate.

After eating we headed home. It was a very eventful day. We would like to go back to this area and spend more time.

    1. No, some days we just stay in the RV park or use the local hiking trails. We do try do see as much as we can without wearing ourselves out. We try to do mostly free or inexpensive things.
