Happy 4th of July! The United States of America’s Independence Day

July 4, 2025

It is hard to believe just 50 years ago, Bruce and I, as children, in different parts of the U.S., experienced the 200th anniversary of the United States of America. The celebrations were huge!

Now, 50 years later, we are getting to experience the 250th anniversary of the United States of America Independence.

Long may our beautiful flag wave.

These two pictures are my favorite pictures of the flag that I have taken. The rainbow behind the flag was a wonderful coincidence.

  1. Isn’t that funny how we can remember the bicentennial? I remember having red, white and blue pants and socks. Also, being down at the Arch for the VP Fair and getting rained on. I am enjoying all the celebrations! I like your picture with the flag and the rainbow!

    1. It was a such a big party for the country! 🎈🍾 There were so many things themed for the bicentennial.

The flag with the rainbow was such a lucky shot. We were out looking at something in the side yard and noticed the rainbow.

  2. I’m too young to remember the bicentennial but I look forward to the 300th. By the way, Miss Julia, I didn’t see any pies or baked goods showing up on your posts lately. I expected at least one apple pie for patriotism sake. 🥧

    1. Hmm. Does banana bread count? We had so many blueberries, I was going to make a pie, but somebody (Bruce) keeps eating them. I did save enough to make blueberry muffins.

  3. We had a rainbow and a flag yesterday, but I couldn’t get them in the same shot. I think I’ll “borrow” your pic and claim it as my own! (JK)

Just the other day I was cleaning stuff in storage when I found bi-centennial themed tote bags from the library that I could never bear to part with. I mean, actually they were from many, many years before I was born. Yeah, that’s the ticket. 😂
