June 5, 2026
On May 25, 2026, we had a break in the rain. It didn’t start raining until the late evening.
This allowed Bruce to get back on the tractor. He had placed large branches in several piles around Pine Tree Two. These piles needed to be dealt with. Bruce sorted the piles into too large to chip, too crooked to chip, and just right to chip. He cut the too crooked to chip branches into sections that were chippable. Using the front loader bucket on the tractor, Bruce picked up the chippable branches and dumped them on the chipping pile. The large branches, he moved to the pile of large branches.
Bruce raked up the pine bark into a pile next to the broken trunk of Pine Tree Two.

On May 26, 2026, it rained during the morning, but let up in the afternoon.
Bruce moved the last pile of roots from Pine Tree One using the tractor. I took some pictures of the garden and picked sugar snap peas.

It rained all most all day on May 27, 2026. During a break, I took a picture of the pink lemonade blueberries.

Yep, it’s a thing. Most blueberries start green, swell up, turn pink, reddish pink, reddish blue, and then blue. The pink lemonade blueberries never become blue, they start green, swell up, turn pink, and then reddish pink. The reddish pink means the blueberries are ripe.
May 28, 2026, more rain on and off all day.
The moon shone through the clouds; a contrail chained the moon.

Another delicious day at the Homestead! 😊

Do the pink lemonade blueberries taste differently? I enjoy seeing the pictures of your plants starting to produce – the peach and the peppers. Bruce is getting good use out of that tractor!

Yes, they do taste different. They sort of have a light blueberry flavor with a lemonade flavor. They are sweeter than regular blueberries.
Bruce loves his tractor.

Sounds like you could make some interesting desserts with them!

Maybe in a few years when the bushes are bigger and produce a lot more berries. Right now, just eating them raw is a treat.

Your fruit and veggies are looking great! I am so impressed. I am barely managing to keep my herbs alive!

Thanks! Potted plants can be hard to keep alive. They need more watering.
The Japanese beatles are here 😬; I hope my garden will live through them. I’ve got traps out and I am knocking them into soapy water.

🤔I do believe that is a true statement.

I think it’s hilarious that Bruce is having tractor withdrawal pains. Can you at least put a photo up on the wall so he has something to look at and pine over on rainy days? Garden’s looking good!

He looks out the sliding glass door, sees the tractor, and pines over it.
Thanks. The Japanese Beatles started their attack. We’ve put out traps in hopes of luring them off the plants.

We are really enjoying them. I made blueberry muffins for breakfast a couple of days ago.
