Post-Op Visit with Surgeon after Gallbladder Removal Surgery

May 30, 2026

Three weeks and a day (May 28) after my gallbladder removal surgery, I had my post-op appointment with my surgeon. Normally, the post-op visit would have been two weeks and a day, but she was on vacation that week.

Before meeting with the surgeon, I put together a list of all the items that should have been communicated for post-op care. I gave the list to the surgeon, which she thanked me for. I did go over some items that I felt were critical.

A dissolving suture thread started coming out of one of my wounds a couple of days before my post-op visit. It might have come out earlier, but the adhesive on my wound could have hidden it.

The surgeon said that sometimes the body will push the thread out before it can dissolve. It is not something to worry about. She clipped the thread so it was next to the wound.

All looks good. I am allowed to add 10 more pounds a week after my 4th week after surgery. I am to continue avoiding using my core muscles for the next three weeks. She said, “Everything looks good, so I won’t need to see you again.”

    1. It is hard! With all this rain, my garden is growing like crazy and that includes the weeds. I want to get out and deal with them, but I still need to take it easy.
