On May 5, with my gallbladder surgery the next day, Bruce and I worked hard to finish up with the yardwork and gardening tasks.
Bruce used his minion to move the broken stump of Pine Tree One to the burn pile. Bruce happily used the tractor to carry and dump the remains of the stump to their final resting place. The cremation would take place later.

While Bruce was finishing his reign of destruction on the stump of Pine Tree One, I worked in the garden.
I trimmed the dying leaves from the red pineapple plant. The main shoot was dying after blooming. I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. The side shoots look healthy, so I am going to see how they grow.

I also had a few more plants. I put them in the front garden since they needed to be in the ground. I plan to move some of them to the orchard area later.

All of the above plants are taking a chance. Our climate is just a zone off.
I also took some pictures of the gardens.

At the end of the day, we sat on the front porch for a bit. With rain clouds rolling in, we didn’t get a colorful sunset. The fireflies were flashing, providing a show for us. The flower garden in front of the porch, had several fireflies. Several fireflies flew past us and next to us. Bruce was doing catch and release as the fireflies flew past him. As a firefly flew past me, I stuck out my hand as a joke. To my surprise, a firefly landed on my palm. As he took off from my palm, he flashed at me.
It rained on and off through the night. I was not sleeping well due to thinking about my gallbladder removal surgery. The rain would comfort me and I would drift back to sleep.
Sounds like that firefly was flirting with you!
How are you feeling after your surgery? Did you discuss with the doctor what you thought about after care instructions?

I was feeling so good today, that I overdid it again. I had a couple of drops of blood leak from a wound. Bruce was very unhappy about it.
My appointment isn’t until next week, so I haven’t talked to the doctor yet.
I am planning on putting together a document for her.

Mother Nature really is just a giant life-cycle. Good luck on your surgery – I’m sure you’ll be fine, but the restlessness makes sense. Sending lots of light, love and laughter your way for a speedy recovery! Linda xox
