Today, I got a call from the surgeon’s office that I was referred to by my GI doctor. I’ve got an appointment to see her on Tuesday. We’ll be discussing if I want surgery, what the surgery entails, and after care.
I don’t know how long it will take after the appointment to have my surgery.
Based on my research, an ejection fraction of 13% can cause all sorts of bad problems. I look at the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and the National Library of Medicine sites to understand my various options.
I also joined a couple of Facebook support groups. I wanted to see what people who had their gallbladders removed said. I’ve found doctors sometimes downplay issues.
I’ll let you know more as I know more.

Sending prayers your way! ❤️

I would only opt for surgery as a last resort. A lot of gall bladder issues can be controlled with simple diet changes.

I have been practicing a low fat diet with fiber for a while, since I thought I had fatty liver disease. Apparently, I was miss diagnosed years ago. With all that diet change, I felt better most of the time. I would have very painful flair ups now and then. I don’t think diet changes will help at this point.

A gallbladder is one of those bodily organs that we ignore all the time. Most folks can’t even point to where it is located and if they know anything about it the knowledge is about stones. But it’s a busy little bugger and does important work so I hope your settles down a bit and can be treated medically. A you said, without one there are challenges and adjustments. I know, it takes a lot of gall to make a comment like that, but…

Well, you have a lot of gall! Based on the doctor’s advice and my research, I really do need to rid myself of the pesky organ. I was misdiagnosed with fatty liver disease a few years ago, so I’ve been on a low fat diet. I would have occasional flair ups, but the heart attack scare had my new GI doctor run a bunch of test. The good news was my liver was fine. Not so much my poor gallbladder.

My gall bladder was removed almost 60 years ago. I’d had attacks for several months and was thrilled to be rid of that pain forever. It was one of the best surgeries I ever had. The procedure is much easier on the patient now.

I hope that you find some answers and relief. My son’s mother-in-law had her gallbladder removed this winter. I think it went well and she is doing well.
