Picture of Juneau in Wild Sunflowers Made It Safely Home

Today (Sunday January 11), my friend’s, Jeanne from ajeanneinthekitchen.com, early birthday present arrived safely.

The Mailing Box did a great job of packing the picture so it would arrive safely. Jeanne said it took her almost 1/2 a hour to unwrap it.

I love how the picture looks in its home!

Yesterday, I hung up the glass picture Jeanne gave me for Christmas. It was cloudy and rainy, so no sunlight to shine through.

This morning, the sunshine streamed through it.

So Beautiful!

And yes, you can see the outside of the window is dirty. Just ignore that part of the photo.

  6. The framing and matting of Juneau is a good choice for the drawing, and it does look lovely.

    I really like the glass art also with Blackberry Homestead in black script. I personally love the look of the window glass in the photograph; I don’t want to ignore it, I want to relish it. It reminds me of snow and rain on a window and looks magical. I think realism in photographs is part of the art. Agreed, sometimes you want or need one that is perfect, but if it rains and the wind blows in Alabama, I think you are going to get a little red clay dust on your windows. The little slipper of water in the lower left (puddle?) reflects a portion of the trees, and the shadows on the ground showcase the rest of the stark limbs. The splatters on the window reflect the environment where you live, where the sky is blue with wispy white clouds, green and brown and golden this time of year–just like that dragonfly art piece. It is a little piece of the wonder of your environment, inviting the outside in, and inviting us to see it as you saw it. I say, “Brava, Julia.” Another dimension of nature to be celebrated, imperfections or not.

    1. Thank you. I really enjoyed your thoughts on the window. It is a favorite view, I have so many beautiful views at Blackberry Homestead that I can’t pick the one I like most. I can easily reach the big picture window in the front and keep it clean. I can reach the sliding doors and keep them clean. But the rest of the windows, not so much.

      I love the rain on the windows and watching it run down. In the summer, I enjoy seeing the butterflies flitting in the yard. In stick season, I love seeing the bare branches reaching toward the sky. Sunset and sunrise are so pretty or even stunning. I love watching the clouds roll past. What I don’t like is the storms that take down our trees. They are just scary.

      2. I love the feeling of peace I get looking out the windows. Well, except for the time the wind was blowing the bird feeder horizontally. That was a scary I felt in my bones.

    1. So was I! The shipping company did such a great job. Jeanne found the perfect spot for the picture! I liked the pictures next to Juneau but didn’t think of it that way. Since you said it, I can see it. Thank you!
