Yesterday (November 1, Saturday), Bruce made it safely home around 7:30 in the evening.
On the way from Augusta, GA, to Muscle Shoals, AL, he stopped in Woodstock, GA, to visit a college friend. Bruce spent four hours hanging out and catching up with his friend. They went out to lunch at his friend’s favorite BBQ restaurant. Bruce bragged about how good the ribs were.
Bruce continued his ride home at 2:50 PM. On the way home, he got cold and put on his sweatshirt and windbreaker underneath his motorcycle jacket. He was happy to get home and get warmed up.
Nox was so happy that her Bruce was back home. Nox wanted Bruce to carry her around. He was so happy to see his Nox and pleased that she wanted him to carry her around.
Bruce let his siblings know he made it home and unpacked the motorcycle. He tried to call his dad to let him know he arrived safely, but Bruce wasn’t able to reach him. Bruce’s brother let his dad know Bruce made it home this morning.
While Bruce was at the hospital with his dad, Bruce sent me a link to a YouTube video recipe for making the a spatchcocked chicken with the crispiest skin. As I told Bruce, the recipe sounded normal, with the only unusual thing being putting baking powder on the chicken skin. Bruce really wanted me to make the recipe. He loves crispy chicken skin. I was willing to give it a try.
Using that recipe, I had a spatchcocked chicken in the oven and baked sweet potato fries cooking when Bruce arrived home. The chicken was from our next-door neighbor and the fries were made from a couple of our garden sweet potatoes. I timed it so the chicken would be ready about 30 minutes after Bruce arrived home. This timing was to allow Bruce to get settled once he was home. I watched Bruce’s progress on the Life360 app, so I knew approximately when he’d be home to put the chicken in the oven.
The recipe delivered! I’ll post it later when I make it again. I was too excited that Bruce was home to take pictures of the chicken.
After he was finished unpacking, the chicken and sweet potato fries were ready to eat.
We got a good night’s sleep.
I made biscuits, bacon, and eggs for Bruce this morning. After breakfast, we walked around Blackberry Homestead.
The neighborhood donkeys were having a conference. The two donkeys to the north were hanging out with the donkey to the east. They were talking over the fence. The donkey to the east was with his flock of sheep. Once we realized the sheep were so close to the fence, we quietly walked away so we didn’t disturb them.

Bruce was happy to see how everything was growing and to see the signs of fall. He mentioned several times how nice it was to be home.
Glad Bruce made it back home safely. Your dinner sounds delicious. 🙂
