Visiting Curling Vine Winery

August 7, 2024

Yesterday, after we got parked at Wood Hat Spirts, I asked Bruce if he was interested in seeing what the winery had to offer. The answer was a resounding, “Yes!”

We walked through the parking lot, down the hill to the entrance to the winery.

Just a Few Steps Away

The Curling Vine Winery was open until 5:30 PM, so we had a while until they closed. As we walked up to their door, I saw a Harvest Host sticker on it and pointed it out to Bruce.

Bruce spoke to the lady and started the tastings. Bruce was busy chatting away and happened to mention the Harvest Host sticker on the door. The lady said, “Yes, we are a Harvest Host member.”

I said, “they didn’t show up because of our size.”

She talked about becoming a Harvest Host member after a friend mentioned being a Harvest Host member was saving their business during the pandemic. The winery signed up and received a lot more business. Being a member of Harvest Host helped saved the winery.

So, go RVers!!! We have some serious economic power!

Their sales room is large; they hold events there.

Bruce tasted the two dry reds and a port.

Bruce really enjoyed the port and bought a case, since he could get a great deal purchasing by the case. (This meant he really loved the port.)

We then walked back to the RV with a T-shirt for Bruce and the case of port.

Nox was happy to see us.

  1. We have visited the winery and Wood Hat as well. We were staying at an RV park in Danville at the time but I noted that they were in HH for next time. We are only 26 feet. Loved both places.

    1. Harvest Host is an organization that small businesses and farms sign up for. They show in a listing on the Harvest Host web site and the Harvest Host phone app. Campers pay a yearly membership fee to get access to the list and the ability to easily request an overnight stop. Campers get a boondocking (dry camping) spot and for staying overnight, Harvest Host asks its members to buy $20 to $30 from the host.
