Cool Yogurt Lime Sauce for Drizzling over Vegetables or Shrimp/Fish

I would love to give credit to the person who provided the inspiration for this yogurt sauce, but I can no longer find the recipe.

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup whole Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of dried dill weed or more to taste (1 tablespoon fresh dill weed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
  • 2 limes, zested and juiced
  • 2 teaspoon of fresh snipped chives, optional
  • Garnish: Small amount of dill to sprinkle on top when serving or sprig of mint on the side

Tools:

Grater for zesting limes, juicer, cutting boar, knife, medium sized bowl, cover for bowl, whisk

Instructions

  1. Put all the ingredients into the medium sized bowl and whisk together.
  2. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. It can sit in the refrigerator overnight.

Notes:

To serve, I sprinkled the top with dill as a garnish.

This is not a thick sauce and works well as a dressing.

    1. It is a shame you couldn’t have some. Bruce can’t have cow milk, cheese, and yogurt either, so he didn’t have any. He can have butter and a small amount of whipping cream. Cow dairy fats don’t seem to bother him.

      1. Dairy does causes him server GI problems. He thinks it might be a protein or lactose. He does better after taking the pills to deal with lactose.

      2. Oooh, that’s awful! 😣 I mostly substitute goat or sheep cheese for cow cheeses. Bruce doesn’t have any problems with those cheeses. I haven’t found a great substitute for mozzarella yet, but Manchego makes an ok substitute and he can eat homemade pizza. Pecorino Romano makes a great substitute for Parmesan. Creamy goat cheese replaces cream cheese.
