Visiting Grateful Bread Company, a Bakery

July 11, 2024

On Saturday (July 6), we walked to the Grateful Bread and bought croissants for breakfast. I got plain croissants and Bruce got almond chocolate croissants.

The special of the day was molasses ginger cookies and a chocolate chip cookies. I had to try their molasses ginger cookie and since I was getting a cookie, Bruce ordered a chocolate chip cookie.

Absolutely delicious cookies! We ate them on the walk back to the RV.

I also bought a loaf of wheat bread. It has been so good for making tomato sandwiches.

They have several different types of sourdough breads, as well as delicious baguettes and batards.

Grateful Bread’s retail shop is only open on Saturdays from 10 to 2. To get bread (and cookies), you show up and take a number at the tent outside. You pick up a clipboard with an order sheet and fill it out.

When they call your number, you go inside and wait for a short time to hand the cashier your order sheet. The cashier will ask if you want one of the specials. Then they total up your order and you pay. The order sheet is handed to someone else who fills the order. You wait off to the side for your order to be filled and when they call your name, you pick it up and head out the door.

It works really well and the atmosphere is fun. Outside, children were blowing bubbles and people were laughing and talking.

  1. The process of ordering/purchasing sounds like the cupcake store at the Silos in Waco, TX. The name also reminds me of a restaurant we like to eat at in Dallas – Bread Zeppelin. They offer salads stuffed inside a baguette. So good! It’s fun to discover these charming places with delicious food!
