Since the rain had stopped for a bit, on August 4 (Friday), we decided to have a campfire. Bruce went to the office and purchased the firewood. One of the work campers came by on his golf cart and dropped off the firewood.
Earlier in the week, Bruce had discovered cans of Sterno in our basement. I am not sure why we brought it. I think it was one of the final clearing out the house things.
Bruce decided to use the Sterno as a way to start the fire. He poured the Sterno over the sticks and kindling. Bruce used his flint rod and struck a spark. The fire caught immediately and spread quickly. The wood caught and we had a nice fire.

The fire rings were old truck wheels with the center removed. The fire rings worked great.
Nox was out with us while we had the fire. She seem to enjoy it.
I didn’t take a picture of her resting near me while we had the campfire. Instead, I am going to share this picture of Nox trying to put thoughts into my head.

Nice trick! Funny that you are in Michigan awhile we are heading to Colorado.

That is so funny! We were in Colorado at the end of May and two weeks of June.

Ha! I know that look well, Nox!
Do you still have a house? Do you rent it out, or will you be selling it?

We sold our house in October of 2021. We sold our cars and so much stuff. We gave away so much stuff as well. If you are curious, I tracked the getting ready to go fulltime RVing. Here’s a page of what we had to do. https://retirementrvdream.com/2021/11/04/things-to-do-to-get-ready-for-the-retirement-rv-dream-7/

I did a lot of project management when I worked. So did Bruce. Using the project management skills allowed us to plan and get ready to go fulltime. Like any unknown project, we had some hiccups along the way.

Did you end up storing much long term? What sorts of things did you keep? Are you the resident of a state? How do you handle physical mail? Do you ever get called for jury duty?. (Oops, didn’t mean to be such a pest.)

We did end up storing more than expected. We have one conditioned storage unit and a smaller unconditioned unit. I kept all my kitchen stuff and Bruce kept all his tools that he didn’t bring. We also kept our Danish furniture. We are Florida residents now.

Looking back, do you wish you had kept more or less?

I wish we had gotten a bigger conditioned storage unit so we could’ve put everything in it. I think it would’ve been cheaper than two units.
I realized I didn’t answer all your questions. We are members of Escapees RV Club. They have a mail handling service. They provided us the physical address needed by financial institutions and government agencies.
Florida does expect you to do jury duty. They may make an exception if you are out of state, but if you aren’t excused, you have to go back to Florida and see if you get picked. So far, we haven’t been called.
