October 9, 2026
I don’t normally post real time. I post the next day or a few days later. This is a post today about the weather forecast for tonight.
Hurricane Isaias appears to be coming in at Pensacola, FL, as well as hitting Mobil Bay in Alabama, the coast of Mississippi, and the mouth of the Mississippi River in Louisiana. The edge appears to be coming up the border of Alabama and Mississippi.
We are expecting rain, lots of rain and some high winds starting tonight.
The weather service is also worried about Sting Jets as the hurricane downgrades.
What is a Sting Jet? AL.com provides a description of what a Sting Jet is.
“The weather service described it as being “a highly localized, narrow stream of strong to violent wind that descends rapidly from the mid-troposphere to the surface on the backside of the storm, often producing very strong, unexpected ground-level gusts.”
According to NOAA, the “sting” in its name is due to the fact that it can resemble the shape of a scorpion’s tail.”
It is unlikely we’ll get Sting Jets here since the hurricane will be a tropical storm by the time it says hello to us. It is a different story for Middle Alabama.

I hope ya’ll in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio stay safe.
Stay safe!

Pro tip: relocate all your hornworms, stink bugs, squash bugs and other garden friends to the southern edge of the Homesteads right now. See how they like a little inclement weather.

Thank you. I am definitely keeping an eye on it too. We don’t need more rain in WV right now.

We are getting lots of rain but out of the area predicted. We don’t know many still in the Gulf area but we know a view in Panama City and Pensacola. We definitely dodged hurricanes this season.

I like my dentist but still hate going! I also have to take 2 antibiotics because of my hip surgery. That makes me woozy.

I don’t know if anyone who likes going to the dentist, even if they are a good dentist.

I don’t know anyone in that area anymore. My great-aunt lived in Pensacola for years. I loved the beaches. I hope the people in range of the storm surge evacuated and the winds don’t lay waste to the area.

We got just over 1 1/2 inches of rain and no high winds. Since it rained all day on Saturday, we just took it easy.
