Bruce Made It Safely to Jekyll Island

Update: Later today

Yesterday, Bruce called a little after 9:30 PM. He was taking break from driving. He asked if I would be awake for a while. I told him I had planned to stay up until he made it. He said that he had about an hour and a half to go. I told him I would stay awake until I heard from him.

Bruce arrived around 11:00 PM (midnight EST) and checked into his hotel. He called me as he walked to his dad’s house. Bruce’s sister had texted that their dad was resting a lot more comfortably and was having periods of wakefulness. The doctor warned the family not to be fooled if their dad had a couple of good days once he was home. Being in familiar surroundings might help their dad’s awareness. Bruce is hoping that it is the case.

As Bruce walked up to the house, he said he needed to go. I haven’t heard from him today yet. I may not hear from him until it is late. The family has a lot going on right now.

Update: Bruce said his father hadn’t been awake anytime he had been there. Bruce’s two sisters and Bruce are in their father’s room visiting.

Bruce texted me a picture of his dad restfully sleeping with one of his sisters holding his hand.
