On June 16 (Monday), I told Bruce I wanted to only go for a short motorcycle ride. My left shoulder and back were bothering me. I wanted to try to ride the motorcycle, but not cause my back and shoulder pain to become extremely painful.
We rode down to Leighton, AL which is the closest town to us, about 10 minutes away. It is a struggling town, but they have a town hall, a post office, library, and a bank branch. They have a museum that is displayed in three buildings.
Part of the museum collection is displayed in the library. Another part is displayed in the town hall. The last part of the collection is displayed at the bank branch. The bank has a sign out front to let you know it houses part of the museum
We deposited a check and then explored the exhibits in the bank.

After we got home, I did a bit of housecleaning since we had friends coming over. I would take breaks and rest my back and shoulder to allow the pain to simmer down.
Around 3:40 PM, we had another thunderstorm roll through. At 7:32, I saw a rainbow in the east. We did sit outside for a while and enjoyed this beautiful sunset.

I put out the hummingbird feeders. Surprisingly, we got to see a ruby-throated hummingbird the same day I put the feeders out. I was thinking it would take a while before we would get any hummingbirds.
Wow, there is a lot of history in your area – aquatic life, ancient flora, even many cultures of humans!

Is that a machine to process cotton or some other material, with all those belts driving all those wheels? The painting (?) above it seems to show bags or baskets of cotton.
Our historical society has a rotating display in the local library, but only one display case – it’s a small library!

It is a cotton gin spinner. It is one of five remaining machines of this type left in the U.S. Here’s some additional information https://www.farmcollector.com/equipment/cotton-gin-spinner-zm0z17octzhur/

I enjoyed seeing the photos of Leighton, enough I went to Google maps and took a deeper look. I like to find out more about the old buildings and their former use, especially when there is nothing in it now.

There is an artist who is using several of the e buildings in the downtown. I keep hoping they’ll be open so I can see their work.
