April 14, 2025
On Saturday (April 12), Bruce continued to cut up the trunk of the pine tree and cut them limbs smaller.
I pulled poison ivy up and put the plants into a contractor bag.

We called it a day around 3:30 PM. While we were working, Bruce took breaks to go inside and get drinks for both of us and to check on Nox. Bruce would carry Nox around and bring her over to see me. He would then put her down to do Nox things. He’d play with her until she was tired and then he’d take her inside.
I didn’t take much of a break, since I have to be so careful about not getting poison ivy oil on me. I wear coveralls, disposable gloves, a pair of rubber gloves over the disposable gloves, rubber bands over the rubber glovers to keep them from sliding down to expose my wrists, a hat and waterproof shoes.
I don’t want to touch anything on me until I am ready to call it done for the day. Bruce will open up the door for me. He’ll also open up the washing machine door. I’ll take off the rubber gloves outside, come inside, take off the shoes, take off the hat and coveralls and put the hat and coveralls into the washing machine. I’ll take off the disposable gloves and throw them away. Bruce will have gotten the shower running so I can jump in. I’ll use Tecnu to scrub down in hopes of removing any poison ivy oils before it causes me to break out.
Once out of the shower, I start the washing machine using Tecnu as well as laundry detergent to remove the poison ivy oils.
I’ll put on another pair of disposable gloves and rub Tecnu over my shoes to remove any poison ivy oils.
I want to limit my risk of being exposed to poison ivy as much as possible. I also want to pull up as much poison ivy as I can before calling it a day.
After giving up for the day, we decided to head south on County Line Road to Leighton, AL for a combination of lunch and supper. Leighton is just a little closer than Muscle Shoals to us. There isn’t much there. We ate at F & D Soul Food & BBQ. The food was delicious.

The outside looked like a dive. The inside was beautifully decorated. With Easter coming up, they had Easter decorations up. The inside felt like you were at someone’s house who enjoys decorating and making their guests feel special.
Hard work, and then a rewarding dinner!
