Yesterday, it rained on and off during the day. During a break in the rain, I got out and took some pictures of the tree branches Bruce cut up the day before (January 17).

I spotted the mocking bird on the pump house.

We also decided to go ahead and remove a trunk on the small tree in front. It was crossed with a larger trunk and was rubbing.
Bruce topped the trunk and the top got caught in some branches. Bruce was able to remove the main section of the trunk without too much trouble. Once the trunk was removed, we had to figure out how to get the top of that trunk down.
Bruce had the idea to toss a rope over the top and pull it down. Just tossing the rope up wasnāt working, so he mentioned it would be better to have a weight on the end of the rope. I went inside and spotted the crescent wrenches. I picked the one I thought would work best and carried it outside to Bruce.
Bruce was pleased and tied the rope through the hole on the end of the wrench. He tried a few times before he got the rope where he wanted it.

Once Bruce had grabbed the wrench, he had rope on both sides of the trunk top.
He gave a steady pull on the rope and the trunk top crashed down.

Today, we headed over to the RV to make sure it would be fine through this cold snap. The low overnight is predicted at 14 degrees F, though the Severe Weather Alert says it will drop between 8 and 12 degrees F. The high is predicted to be 27 degrees F. Monday and Tuesday are not expected to get above freezing.
The wind made it feel even colder than the it was. We saw a few flakes of snow, but no accumulation.
Since we are on a crawl space, we are dripping the kitchen faucet to make sure our pipes donāt freeze. (A big thanks goes to Anne from Mehrling Muse on her post on leaving the water faucets dripping.) Bruce also decided to leave the faucet dripping in the pink bathroom.
I hope we are doing enough that our pipes donāt freeze.
The temperatures are low here in the mountains of North Carolina, and I’m dripping my faucets tonight, too.

How cold did it get at your place? It got down to 13 degrees here, so I am glad we dripped our faucets!

Staying inside where it is warm is a wonderful thing on a cold day. We have to take Nox out or I would stay inside.
