Trying Out My New Stove and Laundry Time

October 19, 2024

Bruce came home with a couple loads of laundry from his trip to Golden, CO.

Since Bruce doesn’t have a lot of clothes, I needed to do laundry today.

I had thawed some sausages we picked up in Missouri, so I wanted to cook them for breakfast.

After wiping the glass cooktop down with vinegar, I put a piece of parchment paper over the large burner.

I put my larger cast iron pan on the parchment paper, added a drizzle of oil, put the sausage in the pan and turned the burner to 4.

I was rather disappointed when the pan didn’t heat up quickly. Time to take it up to 6 and see what happened. The sausages started sizzling in a few seconds at 6.

When I flipped the sausages over, I noticed rounded browning on the sausage next to the edge. Either my pan is too big or I wasn’t fully on the burner. I might try heating up the pan first, then adding food. This was just something to try. These were pre-cooked sausages, so I wasn’t concerned about them being cooked through.

After eating breakfast, we unloaded the truck. We focused on getting everything out of the truck, not put away in its final location. Most of it went into the odd room.

Jeanne had told me she was sending presents with Bruce. I kept waiting for the presents to show up.

I even asked Bruce and he they are safe, so let’s get the rest of the truck unloaded. I was willing to do that. After the truck was unloaded, I asked, where are my presents from Jeanne?

I could see Bruce do a mental smack to the forehead. He walked to the passenger seat and handed me a cute little snow woman. Then he brought out a beautifully framed and matted set of two dragonfly photos taken by Jeanne.

My face must’ve lit up, because he told me Jeanne knew it was my favorite animal. It is such a beautiful, thoughtful present for my new home.

The picture had a plastic wrap on it to protect it. I am going to leave the wrap on until I hang up the picture.

I took this picture and texted it to Jeanne, letting her know just how much I love it!

I dropped off my rental car and Bruce picked me up as I walked out the door.

We headed to the RV. I did laundry and Bruce napped. I loaded up more of my kitchen’s items into the back seat of the truck. I filled the back seat, except for Nox’s spot.

I sat down and read for a bit while the machines did the laundry and Bruce napped. I was grateful I didn’t live in the days all laundry had to done by hand.

It felt good to just sit and read. My knee is still a little swollen, but the Tiger Balm seems to have made a difference. I had been worried my knee would be worse this morning, instead the swelling is down.

When we got home, Bruce helped me unload the truck.

I put Benadryl on his back poison ivy rash and then Calamine on his back once the Benadryl absorbed into his skin.

Th rash spots do look so much better than they did this morning.
