This morning Bruce called the dealership and got their answering machine. He left a message.
Not too long afterwards, Bruce got a call back. The truck was ready to go! It just needed new batteries.
He texted me from the Uber while he was on the way to the dealership. He wanted to let me know he was on the way to pick up the truck.
At 10:11 AM, he had the truck. Bruce sent a text to let me know he was heading home.
He’ll be home tonight! Thoughtful pause here, if all goes well, that is.

I’m praying that all will go well.

Thank you. He’s making good time. Last rest stop was on I-55 at 4:22 PM. He’ll be taking I-156 to US 412 to Jackson, TN. From he’ll keep heading south on US 45 to Corinth, MS to take US 72 east all the way to Muscle Shoals, AL.

He’s had a long trip. He’ll be going by a town that isn’t far from where I grew up — Jackson TN.

I didn’t know you grew up in Tennessee.

I grew up in Ripley, 50 miles north of Memphis. Marrying my college sweetheart, I lived in NY for 50 years. We moved to NC ten years ago. John died two years ago. I always loved the mountains and am very satisfied to live here. Our children live in Denmark, New Jersey, and Washington State.
You’d still hear Tennessee if you heard me talk.

I bet he will appreciate having a comfy bed to sleep on at the end of this ordeal!
