With the truck loaded with property from the storage units, Bruce started home yesterday morning.
He had a couple of problems yesterday. The DEF light came on but the DEF tank didn’t want to take any DEF. After some careful trying, Bruce was able to fill the DEF tank. On he continued.
The back of the rolling tonneau cover popped up. Bruce had to pull over to get it closed down.
With those two problems behind him, he made it to Kansas City and got a hotel room for the night.
He got up and ate breakfast at the hotel.
He was ready to leave, only the truck wouldn’t start. It goes through the preheat cycle, tries to start, then does a reset.
He thinks the batteries (the truck has two) have gotten old and don’t have enough juice to start the truck after preheat.
He called a tow company to get a jump. That didn’t work. The tow company is going to bring a jump box (will start a semi) and try that. If that doesn’t work, Bruce will have them tow the truck to a dealer for repairs.
He said that if he can get the truck started, he’ll drive to the house today.
Once home, he’ll get the batteries replaced.
Update: Bruce is having the truck towed to the dealership. The first tow company never arrived with the jump box. Bruce wants this resolved so he can get back on the road.
Update: The dealership service department says the batteries are good. Unfortunately, their diesel tech is out until Monday. Bruce won’t be home this week.
Oh No! We wish him safe travels , with no more mishaps.

All I can think of is “Bless your hearts”. That has been some run of misfortune, but hoping all will be fixable and he is home soon. I guess the good news is you are getting a lot of things done in the meantime!

Bruce keeps telling me these things are just bumps on the road. In a few months, it will just be memory.

True, they are, even if they jog a little at the time one hits them.

I hope it will be a simple problem to repair and he won’t need to wait for parts.

As awful as these things seem, they will make the best stories when you get together with family over the holidays! 😆

You’re right. We tend to laugh a lot. Our misfortunes and mistakes make for some amusing stories.
