Purchased Induction Range Today

October 12, 2024

I received a coupon in the mail from Home Depot for 15% off up to $200 dollars. Home Depot is currently running a special on appliances as well.

After looking at gas ranges and considering that we would need gas plumbing added to the stove location, we decided to consider induction. I’ve heard great things about induction cooking. So, I decided to give it a try.

We went with a Bosch Benchmark Induction Range, so we got $450 off from the Home Depot rebate, then another $200 off from the coupon. We came out with savings of $650, so not bad. The purchase was still ouch to the pocketbook, but I plan to use this stove for a long time.

Here are the images from the Bosch site of the range.

Delivery is scheduled for next Friday.

  1. My niece has one, and I will be doing a post on it soon. Her husband cooks on the induction cooktop using his cast iron skillet, while it is sitting on a paper towel (so as to not scratch the cooktop!). He saw it while looking at a youtube, and I watched him cook breakfast on it–the top does not get direct heat, so the paper towel does not burn, but the food cooks. How cool is that?

      1. We watched a large number of YouTube channels to get ready to go RVing. They helped enormously. We really knew what to expect, mostly.

Bruce has been watching homesteading YouTube channels. I’ve just started to watch a few.

    1. I’ve been watching some YouTube videos about cooking with induction. It sounds like it cooks faster than gas. It will be interesting to see. I’ve already discovered several of my pots won’t work with induction. ☹️

  2. I’ve had an induction cooktop for several years, and I love LOVE love it. It is fast if you want it to be, and slow enough to melt chocolate without burning it, without a double boiler. I still use my cast iron, even though it’s also got a ring on the bottom; it’s a little slower than the ones that are flat. But the first Christmas I had it, my sister gave me a set of pots and pans, and I already had a few that worked. The ones that didn’t were relegated to the camper. And with the health concerns associated with cooking with gas, I’m happy to not have to think about that.
