In taking Nox out for a walk, Bruce and I noticed this bee on a thistle flower.
This bee does not look like the European honeybee to me. The abdomen doesn’t look right; it is too wide and not yellow enough. The yellow strips are so light they are almost white.
I decided the bee was a type of turret bee or chimney bee. The female nests in the ground and makes a turret or chimney around the entrance to her nest.

Did you try Googling the bee to see if your guess is right? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these before.
