Walking Around Historic Vicksburg, Mississippi

April 19, 2024

After our visit to the Old Courthouse Museum, we rode the motorcycle a short distance to the historic downtown area and parallel parked the motorcycle.

We walked around enjoying the scenery. We stopped in at the small side garden at Audubon Place. The center of Monroe Street was dedicated to our men and women who served in the armed forces.

Cannons are a theme in Vicksburg. You never know when one will turn up as you walk around.

While I loved the exterior of Sears Quarters building, Bruce didn’t think it was anything special.

After our walk around Vicksburg, we rode towards the RV, stopping at the Navy Circle next to the Mississippi Welcome Center.

The Navy Circle is part of the Vicksburg National Military Park. The Louisiana Circle was closed due to instability of the cliff. It is also part of the Vicksburg National Military Park.

The circles are pull offs; they allow for easy access to the battery bentons beside the Mississippi River. The views from the Navy Circle were spectacular.

From the Navy Circle, we rode home. Nox was happy to see us.

This ends our exploration of Vicksburg, as we needed to head out to Arkansas to view the total eclipse of the sun.

We would love to come back and explore some more.

    1. That’s right, I love Art Deco style! I thought it was funny Bruce was so impressed with the new Courthouse and yet, felt the Sears Quarter building was just meh. Whereas, I thought the Sears Quarter building was elegant and lovely. Slightly different taste makes for interesting discussion sometimes.
