Here are some pictures of wildlife (animal and plant) along the Hennepin Canal Trail that I took the last week we were at Hickory Grove Campground.
I was very surprised to discover the lotus species was native to the Americans.

The campground was magical in the evenings as the fireflies started their flashing. Nox was curious about the fireflies and would try to chase after them with her very slow pace. I think she just wanted to see what was making the light.
I found a firefly on the RV. I was never able to get a picture of the fireflies flashing for a mate.

I was always fond of thistles! The lotus is beautiful.

Apparently it was food crop for the tribes in Illinois. They spread it into many areas. We saw it in ponds as well.

Fireflies are so cool! I remember catching them and putting them in jars when we were kids.

My sisters and I did the same thing. So did Bruce. I find fireflies just as magical as an adult as I did as a child.
