Visiting the Small Town of Walnut, Illinois

July 16, 2023

On July 5 (Wednesday), we rode the motorcycle to the small town of Walnut and had lunch at the Walnut Cafe.

Walnut Cafe

The Walnut Cafe is an old fashioned diner, with booths and a counter. All the locals knew each other and were visiting and catching up with each other.

We walked around downtown a bit after we finished lunch. We noticed people used golf carts and automobiles to get around town.

We stopped at the beautiful Memorial Park.

We then walked along Depot Street to Avanti Foods.

Avanti Foods started as a creamy making cheese. They still have the signs at the former cheese factory.

Avanti Foods now has other factories produce their cheese. They also make frozen pizza.

The store is very charming.

We rode to a gas station at the edge of town. While Bruce filled the motorcycle with gas, I got a picture of an interesting house and a historic marker.

We then rode back to the RV. It was a fun afternoon trip.
