Lunch at St. Mary’s, GA with a Short Walk

March 24, 2022

On Sunday, we rode the motorcycle to St. Mary’s for lunch. We found a sea food restaurant near the river, Southern River Walk. The food was very good.

After eating, we decided to walk around St. Mary’s for a bit. It is a beautiful town and very walk friendly.

We started off by walking along the river near the Calvin W. Lang Memorial Pavilion. This is a beautiful spot to see the ferry boats the river. We walked out onto the pavilion and were able to get a see additional boats. There were some pelicans sitting on post. I even got a picture of a tern flying by.

On the other side of the street, we could see Some historical buildings and the Submarine Museum.

We walked to the ferry building. The ferry goes to Cumberland Island, GA.

We walked through the St. Mary’s Howard Gilman Memorial Park along the river walk. I didn’t get any pictures of the park. It was beautiful, with porch swings hanging from thick beams set on top of posts. There were several of the swings set up along the brick sidewalk, right along the water. The park also had a a significant children’s playground.

We walked past the park, down to Tilden L. Norris Marshwalk and Shelter.

I didn’t get any pictures of the stunning historical homes. I did enjoy riding past them.
