Luna Not Feeling Well

April 20, 2020

To paraphrase one of my favorite quotes from my daughter when she was four: Luna is having lots more troubles, she can’t help it, she’s just a sick little dog.

Last week, the vet gave us the news that Luna’s numbers were worse. They weren’t as bad as they were after the first test, but they are worse than they were for the second test.

Luna has decided that eating is optional. I have been trying different things to trick her into eating. I have mixed a little cooked egg in her food, I’ve put broth in it.

She is really slowing down. We walk her around the block, and when we get home, she is worn out. She is also having trouble with her back legs.

She is cold so much of the time, that I put a light weight shirt over her heavy sweater to help keep her warm. We also turned up the temperature in the part of the house the dogs are in so she’ll stay warmer.

Luna had diarrhea for the last three nights. This morning, there was blood in it. As soon as the vet opened, we called the office. Our vet is great about getting back to us. She prescribed some additional medicine for Luna. Bruce picked the medicine up when he took Luna in for her fluid injection.

One prescription is to encourage eating and one is to help with diarrhea. I hope these will help her feel better.

I know my sweet little Luna is not going to be around much longer if we can’t get her eating.

  1. I am so sorry. I know how painful it is to see your little one not feeling good. U feel helpless. But it sounds like you are doing everything you can to make her as comfortable as you can. I hope she pulls thru. Please keep us updated.
