On Sunday (September 7), we had a pretty sunset, but no fireflies.

On Monday (September 7), I didn’t do much; I mostly napped part of the afternoon away. I did get some pictures of butterflies. I walked out to the orchard with soap spray for aphids while Bruce mowed. I sprayed the aphids on the apple trees.

On Tuesday (September 8), I put a cooler in the truck after taking Nox for a walk around the backyard.
Bruce drove us to Huntsville along the Alt US Hwy 72, then up to US Hwy 72. I noticed the crops had been harvested or were almost ready for harvest.

We saw that the traffic in the opposite lanes was backed up for miles, due to construction on the bridge over the Tennessee River. We decided then and there not to go home that way!
We ate breakfast/lunch at Sitar Indian Cuisine. It was a letdown, so we won’t be back.
At Costco, I picked up my new glasses. The lady at the counter adjusted both pairs for me. It is wonderful to see the world in focus again!
We headed home by way of Hwy 72, since Alt Hwy 72 was backed up for miles due to the Tennessee River bridge being under construction. We stopped at the Lodge Factory Store in Athens, AL. I loved looking at all the beautiful cast iron. I was surprised to find Lodge made a line of enameled cast iron. They no longer make it, but they are still selling it. It feels great and looks beautiful! I was so tempted to buy some. I refrained.
I found a dragonfly cookie cutter. Bruce found a strawberry rhubarb jam.

We continued to the house.

Once we unloaded the groceries and put them away, Bruce removed the failed roll top from the truck.

I helped Bruce carry the broken roll top around to the side of the house. He is considering selling it for scrap.
I found a geode in the driveway while Bruce was taking off the roll top.I could get a picture of all the beautiful sparkles.

I noticed the purple magnolia had some leaves turning yellow. Fall is coming!

My mother-in-law went through a phase of collecting blue glass. On year for Christmas, Bruce and I gave her a carved glass vase, with blue dolphins leaping out of the water. For years, she displayed it proudly. After my mother-in-law started collecting pottery, she put the vase away. My father-in-law allowed us to take the vase home with us.

I put the vase on a table in the living room after unpacking it.
Lovely vase!

Thank you. The blue glass was carved, leaving behind only the blue glass for the picture.

It is a beautiful piece of art. When we bought it, the store claimed it was worthy of a museum. While I thought that was a bit of puffery, it is a gorgeous piece.
