I was taking out my compost scraps on Friday (April 18) to the compost bin. When I opened up the sliding back door, I looked down at the step and noticed the snake was back.

I called out to Bruce, saying the snake was back. Bruce came over to see the snake. We watched as the snake slowly wound past the step.

After careful observation, we decided the snake was the same snake that had visited the front porch.
He had a lump (though smaller and slightly more towards the tail) in about the same spot as before. The coloring and length appeared to be the same.
He slithered off into the flower bed. We didn’t see him come out.
The snake was heading towards the north fence line, the opposite direction of how he had traveled before.
The doors are going to remain closed because I don’t want the snake to pay me a visit inside my house. I don’t mind seeing him outside, but I do get startled by snakes. I will often jump back and emit a little scream when I spot a snake up close.
Sometime you can’t get rid of an instinct even if it is toward one of God’s helpful creatures!

I know! I must’ve jumped 2 feet back and a foot in the air when I almost stepped on the little black snake by the compost pile. I also heard myself making a noise between a scream and a squeal. All over a harmless little snake.

I’m the same way with bees even though I know they’re not the scary monsters Child Me believed them to be. đŸ˜„

I have loved butterflies, bees and dragonflies since I was child. I can understand how people are scared of bees since wasps and bees are so often lumped together for children.

Oh my. No you do not want the snake visiting you inside the house. I am startled by a snake too, and prefer they stay in their own territory.

No, I really don’t want the snake visiting me inside the house.

hopefully the snake is dealing with any mice that might be lurking around!

I hope it is busy eating all the rodents around.
