The 2021 Forest River Riverstone 42FSKG Legacy is a top-of-the-line luxury couples fifth wheel mini-garage toy hauler that offers luxury and comfort for all your travel adventures.

The 42FSKG floorplan is spacious and well-designed with 5 slides. The light grey interior features premium materials and finishes, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. The central living area includes opposing slides, theater seating, a large 65 flat-screen TV, and a fireplace for cozy nights on the road. It has a built in desk with drawers in one slide and a gaming computer desk in the other slide. There are overhead storage bins in both slides.

The front kitchen is the largest non-custom RV kitchen made and has 2 slides. It comes equipped with a Samsung residential French door refrigerator, a convection oven microwave and a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. The counter tops are white solid surface and it has large stainless steel sinks with a residential faucet. The sink covers are cutting boards. The 3.7 cubic feet oven is roomy enough to put a 1/2 sheet pan inside for baking. The stove top has 4 burners. The hood over the stove uses a MaxxAir Maxxfan Deluxe fan to vent the kitchen. There is storage beside the oven for pans and spices. There is storage space for pots, pans, dishes and silverware. The trash can is stored in a cabinet pullout. The breakfast bar (dining bar) in the kitchen overlooks the living room and provides excellent TV viewing.

The bedroom offers an Olympic sized queen bed, plenty of storage, including a wardrobe slide. It has a cadet wall mounted heater, a heat pump, a Splendide washer and dryer. The cordless Dyson vacuum cleaner is stored in the wardrobe slide.

The bathroom has a full sized shower with skylight, allowing taller people to stand in the shower. It is vented with MaxxAir Maxfan Deluxe fan. The bathroom has a smaller sized vanity. The oval porcelain toilet is easy to clean and has a medicine cabinet over it. The hybrid on demand Truma water heater means you can take long hot showers without worrying about the hot water sandwich.

It has the Firefly control system for controlling the LED lights in the RV, slides, awnings, the heating and cooling. It allows you to see the house power, and tank levels, The phone app that connects to the RV allows you to do the same functions from your phone. The LED lights are dimmable. The ceiling fan is not controlled by the Firefly controller and has its own switch.

There are three ducted A/Cs, one in the kitchen, living room and the bedroom one being a heat pump.

Four of the slides have slide toppers.

The leveling is done with an automatic six point hydraulic system and it has the ability to return to tow height when it is time to hitch up. The controller is in the front pass through.

The exterior has full body paint job that is dark red, black, gold and cream. The camping side has 2 large awnings to provide shade on sunny days.

The double pane windows with night and day shades help with noise. The walls are 4 1/2 inches thick with house style insulation. The slides, floor and ceiling are all insulated to handle 4 seasons.

For travel days, it has MORryde independent suspension and hydraulic disc brakes for a smooth ride. The camera system has a view for each side, a camera above the entrance door, and a camera for the rear. The display is mounted on the windshield. All six tires come with temperature and pressure sensors with an exterior display you mount of your windshield.

For off the grid stops, it has 2 Battleborn 100Ah batteries, a propane generator, and 1 solar panel.

The one point waste tank outlet has a camlock LCI waste management system that means no leaks when connecting the sewer hose. There are two 40 gallon grey tanks, one for the bathroom and washer and the second one for the kitchen. The black tank is 40 gallons and the fresh water tank is 80 gallons. All tanks are insulated and heated.

The RV comes with a water manifold system to allow each water line to be shut off, dual 40 lb propane tanks with a propane monitor, 2 heated pass through storage areas, as well as the mini-garage under the bed. The garage roof (bottom of the bed) can be raised to accommodate taller toys. There are shallow storage compartments on each side of the garage. The garage door is zero gravity and is very easy to lift. There is a space (with hookups) for an outdoor TV.

The pass throughs are heated with the propane furnace.

Extras include:

* fresh water hose

* heated winter fresh water hose

* black tank flush hose

* water pressure regulator

* water filter

* water softener

* filtered drinking water faucet in kitchen with 3-stage filtering

* sewer hose, with additional extension hose for hard-to-reach sites

* sewer “bayonet” adapter for places with the old-style connections for pump-outs

* electric adapter for 30A hookups

* SurgeGuard to protect electrical system

* motorcycle wheel dock securely installed in garage

* WeBoost Destination cell booster for places with poor cell reception

* TST tire pressure and temperature monitoring system

* SnapPads on 5 of the leveling legs

New, factory-installed updates in 2024:

* roof membrane

* entry door (new glass style)

* slide toppers

* awnings

* A/C covers

* both MaxxAir fans

* rear heat-pump A/C

* bathroom skylight

Known problems/issues are:

* front A/C isn’t working, since the factory work. We’ve had a mobile tech check it out, finding that the capacitor was good, no breakers thrown, but he couldn’t tell what was wrong. The other units are enough to cool the rig even in hot weather though.

* we removed the outside TV and used the space for storage. This unit came with an outside TV, and we left in the connections and mount points.

* we disconnected the stereo, as it was interfering with the TV.

* two exterior trim pieces, from the underside at the rear, are off, one missing.

    1. Betty, thank you! We loved living in it full-time. I am torn about selling it, but I don’t see us traveling with it anymore. We are so busy on Blackberry Homestead that travel doesn’t seem likely anytime soon.

      If you happen to hear of anyone who is looking for a big RV, send them our way!
      Thanks, Julia

    1. We do plan to buy a car and sell the truck. Bruce may buy a canoe or kayak or a small sailboat. He is talking about maybe both a canoe/kayak and sailboat.

      I would like to remodel the bathrooms.

      1. Yes, Cliff the Big Red Truck will be sold. He’s expensive to use – 15 miles to the gallon of diesel. The oil change is expensive as well. Once the RV is sold, we won’t need something that can tow 21,000 pounds.

        We may get a smaller used truck as well as a used car. If we get a used car with 4 wheel drive, we may not need a truck.

      2. Life is better with a truck. There are so many times when having a bed is handy rather than putting messy things in your nice clean car. I hope you can find one of each so you can have the best of both worlds!

      3. Bruce says we can just rent a truck from Home Depot when we need it. That’s what we did when we lived in Colorado. I like having a truck, we just don’t need such a big one.
