On Sunday (April 13) morning, I suggested we open the two boxes with the cellular shades to make sure they weren’t damaged.
Bruce decided it was a good time to put up the first shade. He cleared items from the master bathroom to make it easier to reach the window.
Next, we gathered up the tools needed for the installation.
Nox was nervous about all the activities and we wound up putting her on the bed. Being on the bed calmed her down and soon she was asleep.

The installation was quick. Bruce put everything he had taken out of the bathroom back into the bathroom.
Nox realized we were leaving and decided to join us on our walk around Blackberry Homestead.

Once we were back inside, we opened up the box of shades for the master bedroom. Since Nox was getting underfoot, we closed the bedroom door with Nox out in the hall.
Two of the headers had some damage to one end cap. The third shade made it without any damage. Fortunately, the damage didn’t show when the shades were installed.

The installed shades look black in the pictures, but they are navy blue. Once I get around to painting the bedroom a light blue, I’ll enjoy the shades more.
I have thought of stenciling or free handing shimmering gold dragonflies on the shades. I’d have to get it right since I don’t believe I could correct too big of a mistake. It would be an expensive mistake since the shades were expensive! It would be fun to have the dragonflies on wall as well.
It feels wonderful to no longer have trash bags acting as window coverings. Bruce laughed when I said that. He said, “They weren’t just trash bags, but contractor trash bags. Only the best trash bags for us, baby!” I laughed so hard at his silliness.
With the shades in place, we headed outside to do more yard work.
I planted the tomatoes while Bruce moved more pieces of the pine. I helped move pine branches once the tomatoes were planted.

We stopped just before sunset. I enjoyed seeing the golden red sunset light in the eastern trees.

Bruce and I sat in the front porch rockers watching the sunset.

Once the sun had set, we went inside. It was a glorious ending to a busy day!
I shouldn’t be, but I’m jealous of the beauty of your homestead and all the work you get to do!

We love how beautiful it is here. Working on the homestead feels so productive. However, the poison ivy pulling is not in any way shape or form something you should be jealous about!

Such beautiful sunsets! The shades look very nice, but those contractor bags are the bomb! They are indeed the best (though I have never tried them as curtains).

They worked surprisingly well as temporary curtains!
