I have received many comments over the years about the plants I have in my RV kitchen. The comments have all been positive.
I’ll tell you the backstory of the plants in my RV kitchen.
My Great-aunt Hazel had a stunning, large pot of salmon colored smallish amaryllis blooming when I visited her one winter. I admired her amaryllis, so she let me have a couple seed pod from the plants.
I was doubtful that I could grow amaryllis from seeds. I planted them and they grew. I’ve had the plants that grew from those seeds for over twenty years. They don’t bloom that often because I am always worried about the bulbs freezing.
The plants always remind me of my Great-aunt Hazel. When it was time to go full-time RVing, I got rid of all my other plants, but kept the amaryllis.
I moved the amaryllis to Blackberry Homestead and put them at the sliding door for now.

Blackberry Homestead is starting to feel more like home.
They are part of the family. They know they are well-loved.

My godfather kept amaryllis going for years in frozen New England by planting them out in a sunny spot – pots and all – in the spring, and bringing them indoors for a rest for a couple of months in the fall before bringing them back into daylight in time to flower for the winter. Of course, I have no idea how to deal with them in a warmer climate!

It looks like someone who lived in the house in the past planted amaryllis in the ground here. I’ve also got a hydrangea bush and some Iris plants. I have violets that are a stunning ground cover underneath the trees.

Will you have a plant porch or a special room for your growing plant family?

I am planning on getting some plant stands and having the corner of the dinning room act as my plant area.!
