It was a long day today. First thing, we saw that our mattress had arrived. Bruce moved it into the master bedroom using his appliance dolly.
Yesterday, Bruce sold the kitchen appliances. They had never been used. We’ve had issues with GE appliances in the past, so we wanted to replace them.
I cleaned the floor where the appliances had been. It was filthy.
I dumped a tub of water into the sink and realized we had a problem. Water was everywhere on the kitchen floor. In removing the dishwasher, the dishwasher drain connecting to the sink drain had been removed. The dishwasher drain was open, so a large amount of water could run out the open drain. Bruce and I cleaned up that mess.
The plumber I called to deal with the plumbing issues the inspector found arrived at the house around 8:45 AM.
He and his assistant quickly got to work. His assistant made friends with Nox while the boss listened to Bruce.
They weren’t able to check out the natural gas system. They need to coordinate with the gas company to do that. Bruce and I want to have a natural gas range since we love cooking with gas.
After the plumbers finished, Bruce paid them.
I then proceeded to take advantage of the cooler morning to do some yard work. I went out to the back pasture with gloves on and pulled poison ivy from the ground. I started near the gate and put the trash bag in the half plastic barrel. I worked for an hour or so when I realized my index and middle fingers were missing from the right glove. It was time to quit and get washed up with poison ivy scrub.
We got a couple of packages from Amazon, that I will use to organize the kitchen.
We went to the nearby Ace and bought a mailbox. The existing mailbox was too low and the mail carrier left a note they would hold our mail until the mailbox was the correct height. The existing mailbox also didn’t have a door, so we were planning on replacing it soon.
We then went to Lowe’s and bought some cabbage plants and dirt. We also bought a mailbox post and a spike to hold the mailbox post. Bruce was only able to get the spike into the ground a short way. He needs a mallet. Bruce was able to remove the old mailbox very easily. The post was rotted.
I took the dirt and put it into the Amazon boxes. I then planted the cabbage plants in the dirt and watered them in. Nox came outside to watch me work. I don’t know how well this will work, but I don’t have a shovel yet. I look forward to getting my yard tools.
We sat in our camp chairs for a bit, then drove back to the RV.

Lots of hard work!!

We knew it was there. We saw it when we walked the property.

Is there a good way to get rid of it?

No, there is a poison you can spray, but it kills all sorts of plants. We don’t want to damage the trees. Pulling it out by hand is the best way to get rid of it since we care about other plants.

Do goats eat poison ivy? I know they are used for all sorts of weed control around here.

They will eat poison ivy.

Can you rent goats where you are? It sounds easier than pulling it all by hand.

It’s worth looking into. I am afraid the goats might eat a lot more plants than we’d like.

What about geese? I hear they don’t eat every plant. (Around here the landscape can be very steep. People have to get creative with managing their properties.)

I checked into goat rental, but they don’t have any close to us. I couldn’t find any geese rentals nearby either.

Aw, that’s too bad. I guess you get to have all the fun by yourself. 😆. Hope the work goes quickly!

cooking on Gas it the best – the only controllable way.

I grew up cooking on gas, then later had to cook on electric stoves. It was an adjustment. I’ve loved cooking with gas in the RV and want to continue to cook with gas.
