This morning, we stopped at the Colbert County Courthouse Annex to pay for last year’s property tax and to get our homestead tax rate.
We arrived at a good time. After going through security, we headed to the window for tax payments. We were the only ones in line and were helped immediately. Bruce wrote the check to pay for last year’s property tax and I asked where we applied for our homestead rate.
The clerk pointed to the doorway to go through for applying for the homestead rate. We were called over to a desk as soon as we walked in.
The clerk looked at our paperwork and entered in some information and gave us the estimated tax for next year.
Since we will be living at the house, our taxes will be about half of what the seller paid. The seller had the property in a LLC.
