River Heritage Park in Florence, Alabama

September 15, 2024

On September 8 (Sunday), we rode the motorcycle to River Heritage Park in Florence, Alabama.

This is a beautiful park on the top of the bluff overlooking the Wilson Dam on the Tennessee River. It has a smooth paved trail down to the river. The paved trail goes along the river all the way to the marina!

We walked down to the river in hopes of seeing the locks. We couldn’t really see into the locks due to the tree.

We watched to see if anything would happen, but while we were watching, nothing came through the locks.

This was a pretty park and we’ll be back.

After visiting the park, we decided to see if we could see the locks better at the Joe Wheeler dam. We headed to the Joe Wheeler dam and using Google Maps, we headed to the COE office.

The COE office is only open to Corp of Engineers employees. So, no seeing the locks that time.

I did notice a pull off to look at the locks, but Bruce couldn’t hear me and the we were crossing the dam.

We headed back to the RV along River Road.
