Yesterday, Bruce asked me what I wanted to do. I said I wanted to see waterfalls. The Wilson Dam Waterfall is only 10 miles from the RV park, so I suggested it.
We made sure we had water to drink. We followed Google’s advice took the truck to the Wilson Dam Visitors Center. Google was so wrong!

We got to the visitors center and it was closed, with a gate and keypad lock. No visiting allowed!!!
We did walk on the paths that were open and got a great view of the Wilson Dam. There were picnic tables and signs about the dam. The signs were very faded at the dam overlook.

There were two gazebos at the parking lot with signs. These were readable, but covered with bird poop.
We did find the nature trail and that’s when we realized Google lied to us. It is not a short walk to the waterfall.
We got back into the truck and drove to the fishing pier parking lot on the other side of the dam.

In looking at the map, I decided we should park at the Rockpile Recreation Park. It looked like there was a hiking trail there.
So Bruce drove the truck there and parked. YAY! There was the trail.

There were many blue herons near the shore. They flew up when we walked past.

This was a lovely hike and the waterfalls were beautiful. I enjoyed learning about the topography.
I realized since I shared a map at the beginning, you might like to see the map of the area that allowed us to get to the waterfall.

The waterfall is where Google claims it is, you just can’t get to it from the Visitor Center Parking Lot. That dotted line on the first map is wrong!
