On Saturday (August 10), Bruce wanted to go out to eat. He looked up restaurants in the area and Mary Lee’ Cafe stood out to him.
We geared up and rode past the restaurant as Google maps gave us poor directions. We got turned around and made it to the restaurant.
Mary Lee’s has simple decor inside and fabulous food. They grind their own meat for the chuck burgers. The cook hand batters the fried mushrooms and chicken tenders.
We ordered the fried mushrooms as a starter. The fried mushrooms were on par with the fried mushrooms from The Warehouse in Robertsdale, AL. (The Warehouse in Robertsdale, AL is my top standard for fried mushrooms and oysters.)
Bruce had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings. He was so happy eating them. According to him, they were delicious. I went with a hamburger. It reminded me of the hamburgers I ate growing up on the dairy farm. It was delicious. The French fries were good, nice and crispy.
Our sever was the husband of the cook. He was a talkative fellow and we learned a lot about the restaurant. He is clearly very proud of his wife’s cooking. They own and run the restaurant together.
You can tell the restaurant is a hangout for locals. Our server recognized everyone as they came in and his wife came out of the kitchen to say hi to some of the regulars.
It was a very friendly place.

Darn, now I’m hungry for fried mushrooms!
