On April 22 (Monday), we rode the motorcycle to Cheaha State Park. We stopped in at the camp store. Bruce filled up the motorcycle with gas while I looked around.
I was rather surprised to find they are trying to extend the Appalachian Trail into Alabama.

We rode to the top of Cheaha Mountain. We were excited to be at the highest point in Alabama. It was beautiful!

We headed inside the tower and climbed to the top for stunning views.

After we climbed down the tower, Bruce mentioned he saw a sign with information about the tallest point.

After reading the sign, we went back inside the tower to find the āXā that marked the highest spot.

We walked around the top of the mountain and even did some hiking. The trail had information signs about the CCC.

My next post will cover our hike to Bald Rock in Cheaha State Park.
I love and appreciate that so much work by the CCC is still in use today. This was a very nice post, and yes, it is beautiful there–great find!

It was a delightful surprise! I didnāt expect the highest point in Alabama to be in the middle of the state. If I had guessed, I wouldāve picked northern Alabama.

So do we. So many of them arenāt open to the public, so it is always a pleasure when they are open.
