US Army Corp of Engineers Rock Island District Visitor Center

After our visit to the Matthiessen Waterfall, we decided to visit Buffalo Rock State Park. On the road to Buffalo Rock State Park, I noticed the US Army Corp of Engineers had a visitor center for the Starved Rock Lock and Dam. We pulled into the parking lot and got out of the truck to take a look.

We walked around outside first.

We went inside to learn more about the lock and dam.

There was a salvaged pilothouse from the M/V John M. Warner on display.

They had some artifacts on display.

It was well worth the stop.

We then proceeded to drive to Buffalo Rock State Park.
