Our new friends at Hickory Grove Campground and RV Park recommended visiting the Psycho Silo at least once. After some discussion, they agreed to pick us up the next day and head over to the Psycho Silo Saloon.
We rode in our friends truck and parked a ways out. Parking is apparently much harder to find later in the day. We went about a couple of hours after opening.
Once we walked up the ramp, we stood under the silo and looked up.
There is a covered deck around the silo with a bar.
As you move past the bar, (Bruce made a stop at the bar to buy hard cider.) there is a covered stage with an uncovered deck in front of it. Near the open space is a metal grain bin roof up on post covering a bar. There are old trucks “sunk” into the deck.
The band (I didn’t catch their name.) was very good.
Past the stage is a two story deck with stairs to get up to the second floor. There is also a ramp up to the second floor that you can watch the band perform from. They have the remains of an old airplane on display.
It was the blessing for Jeeps, so there was a large number of Jeeps parked around the lot. There was still a decent number of motorcycles in the motorcycle parking.
They serve a limited amount of food, but apparently welcome food trucks. There was one food truck in the parking lot. There was ax throwing set up across the parking lot.
We had fun with our friends and the Psycho Silo was definitely worth seeing.
