Yesterday, we had a friend from college come and visit us at our RV. He was impressed by the RV. We went out to lunch and we hung out at the RV afterwards. He stayed until 3:30 pm.
After our friend left, we decided to go for a motorcycle ride to Amicalola Falls State Park. It was a very scenic ride. I can’t take pictures of the scenery when on the motorcycle, so you’ll just have to take my word for how beautiful it was.
Amicalola Falls State Park changes a $5 parking fee.
Amicalola Falls State Park has the trail to get to the Appalachian Trail’s terminus. You are supposed to check in for hiking the Appalachian Trail at the Amicalola Falls State Park.
We hiked the Creek Trail in the Amicalola Falls State Park.
There were so many violets blooming along the Creek Trail, they perfumed the air. Their scent mixed with the light mist from the creek.
We followed the Creek Trail to the bottom of the Amicalola Falls. They are spectacular! At 729 feet tall, they are the tallest cascading waterfall in the southeast. The trail to the top of the falls is considered moderate to strenuous. It has a lot of steps, 604 according to the pamphlet.
We didn’t hike all the way up, only about 2/3 the way. I did not have water, so I got dehydrated.
We rode the motorcycle to the top of the falls. There is a foot bridge across the top of the falls.
There were many wildflowers blooming along the trails, along with the dogwood trees.
