I Fell and Is It Nox’s Fault?

May 30, 2022

Yesterday was a rainy day, so we spent most of the day in the RV. I was reading while Bruce was doing puzzles on his computer.

Nox didn’t like the thunderstorm and she asked to sit in my lap. I let Nox up into my lap and she curled up on my lap and snuggled in.

Sometime after the thunderstorm passed, I needed to get up and go to the bathroom. I got Nox to move off my lap, lowered the footrest, and tried to stand up.

My left leg was asleep! As I tried to step forward, I rolled my ankle and fell. I hit my knee on the way down and I fell backwards into Bruce’s computer chair, hitting it with my back. The chair moved causing my back to hit the feet of the chair.

Bruce was in the chair at the time. He was up and kneeling beside me asking if there was anything he could do. He got me to lay down on the floor while he looked at my knee and ankle.

He even got me aspirin and water while I lay there. He helped me sit up so I could take the aspirin. I asked him to take a look at my back since I hit it on the chair feet. He said it looked red where I hit, but no bruising was showing yet.

When I felt ready to stand, Bruce put his arms under my arms and lifted me. I was able to get to hobble to the bathroom and then back to the theater seating.

Bruce got an ice pack for me. My left ankle was swollen to twice the size of my right ankle. My left knee is badly bruised and so is my back. Before bed, the bruising showed up on my back.

Do I blame Nox for causing my leg to go to sleep? Yes. Do I blame her for my fall? Nope. I really shouldn’t have tried to walk on my leg before it woke up.

Chair Feet I Hit My Back On

    1. Bruce or I will do our best to comfort Nox during a thunderstorm. It wasn’t her fault I fell, just that my leg went to sleep. I’ve had my leg go to sleep without such painful results! Nox even curled up next to me afterwards and tried to make me feel better!

    1. Thanks. I am taking it easy and icing my ankle and knee. My back luckily doesn’t hurt a lot, even if the bruise looks really awful. I did find my elbow was also sore, but luckily it isn’t really bothering me.
