The last couple of weeks have been very hard on Bruce and me.
Bruce’s mother had shoulder surgery on October 29th. She had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and she was very confused as to what was happening. She was also in a lot of pain. By November 6th, she was doing much better. She was no longer confused and seemed positive. The morning of November 7th, she had a major heart attack and passed away.
My mother’s brother (my uncle) passed away on November 8th. He had Alzheimer’s disease and had been in hospice care.
Last week, at my mother’s nursing home, four patients and four workers have tested positive for COVID. The nursing home is no longer bring patients to the window so family members can see them. They are trying to limit exposure by not moving the patients. My mother has Alzheimer’s disease and her disease has progressed to the point that she can no longer walk or really talk.

That is a lot to deal with, especially in such a short time. Prayers and hugs for you and your family.

It is be so much harder to go through loss during these times. I am so sorry that you lost loved ones and that you cannot visit your mother. It must be so hard!

I’m so sorry you’ve had a rough time with deaths in the family and not being able to see your mother. Even one at a time, none of those events would be easy. I hope something bright and cheerful comes your way soon.

My mother-in-law supported the Adirondack Mountain Club, ADK 814 Goggins Road, Lake George, NY 12845. She grew up in France and New York and she loved the mountains.

My thoughts and condoloences go out to you and Bruce during this time of pain and sorrow. It is especially sad to hear that COVID has surfaced in your mom’s nursing home; that has been such a huge problem over here.

Thank you for your kind words. We have gotten through the funeral today. It was mostly just family with a few close friends.
The number of people who have tested positive in my mom’s nursing home keeps growing. It isn’t in her wing of the nursing home yet, so I continue to hope that she will not get it.
