Last Days for Luna?

August 17, 2020

On Saturday, Luna was eating and seeming pretty much herself. On Sunday, she refused to eat anything except her favorite treat. This morning, she refused to eat anything, even her favorite treat. On Sunday, she started to really stumble around when she tried to walk. She has also started to just fall down while standing. She is shivering so much now. The only time she seems warm is when it is over 80 degrees F.

Last night, Bruce and I had the hard conversation about Luna. We have done our best to keep her going with a good quality of life. Seeing her this way is breaking our hearts and I know there isn’t much more that can be done for her.

She managed to stumble outside this morning and pee. It was 60 degrees F outside and she came back inside shivering so hard she fell over. Luna is lying on my lap, wrapped up in her blanket and a sweater while I work. Even wrapped in a blanket, she was still shivering. I covered her with a sweater. She stopped shivering and went to sleep.

We will be contacting the vet later today. She has been trying to prepare us for Luna needing to be put to sleep once the medications stop working. We will discuss our options with the vet. I am afraid I know what the option will be for my poor little Luna.

    1. Thank you for you sympathy. I have to agree, loosing a pet is just as hard or harder than losing a person family member. I am also worried about how my other dog is going to react when Luna doesn’t come home.

    1. Thank you for you sympathy. I do feel very lucky that we found Luna and Nox at the animal shelter. They have brought so much love and joy to our lives and I believe we have brought so much love and joy to their lives.
